ACNS Conference
Launceston 2019
ACNS is pleased to offer a range of awards and grants.
In addition to the ACNS Young Investigator and Emerging Researcher Awards, to be presented at the conference to recognise outstanding researchers, we are pleased to offer Student Travel Awards and Family Care Grants to support conference attendance.
Student Travel Awards
ACNS will present up to ten awards of AUD $250 each to support the attendance of a student who is a presenting author at the conference. To apply, indicate your student status during the submission process.
Family Care Grants
In order to support Australasian Cognitive Neuroscience Society (ACNS) members with significant family care responsibilities to attend the annual meeting, ACNS is introducing small family care grants (up to AUD $600 per family) for ACNS members with dependents requiring care. These grants are intended to contribute towards financial need and to help offset the costs of wrap-around care at home accrued during meeting travel, or care for dependents at the meeting site. Grants are intended to assist members with additional financial needs incurred as a result of attending the ACNS meeting in 2019, not to cover routine care costs.
Awards will generally be offered as reimbursement of expenses that are supported by receipts. In the event that the number of requests for grants exceeds the funding available, preference will be given to applicants in earlier stages of their career or for whom attending this particular meeting is especially important for professional development (e.g., it is a critical point in career trajectory, or a student or post-doc is on the job market).
Eligibility
Any ACNS member with one or more dependents requiring childcare, elder care, or care due to disability is eligible for this grant.
- Grant recipients must be current members of the ACNS.
- Grant recipients must attend the 2019 ACNS meeting.
- Only one parent/caregiver for a single family may apply.
Application Process
Applicants must complete this brief application form and submit to Olivia Carter (ocarter@unimelb.edu.au) by 31/08/2019. Please include “ACNS Family Care Grants” in the subject heading. If you have questions about the grants or the application, please contact Olivia.
Deliberation Process
A maximum of three grants will be awarded in 2019. Members of the ACNS Executive Committee with representation from the ACNS Accessibility Subcommittee will review applications. All eligible applications will be considered.
